kashi — Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the kashi mobile application ("kashi", "the App", "we", "us", "our"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

kashi is a Japanese-language study companion that connects to your Apple Music library, identifies songs sung in Japanese using community-contributed lyric matching from lrclib.net, and presents per-line study cards containing vocabulary, translations, and learner notes generated by kashi.

kashi does NOT distribute or display full song lyrics. Each study card surfaces a single featured word from a matched line, together with kashi-generated translation and learning content.

3. Apple Music Requirement

kashi requires an active Apple Music subscription to function. Apple Music is a service provided by Apple Inc. and is governed by Apple's own terms. kashi is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc.

4. Account and Authentication

kashi uses Sign in with Apple to authenticate users. We do not collect your password and do not require you to create a separate kashi account.

5. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use kashi for personal, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control, subject to the App Store Terms of Service.

You may not:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Use the App for any commercial purpose without our written permission
• Scrape, extract, or redistribute content displayed in the App
• Use the App to violate any law or third party right

6. User Content

You retain ownership of any songs in your Apple Music library. kashi processes metadata about those songs (title, artist, album, identifiers) to provide its study features but does not claim ownership of your music or your library data.

7. kashi-Generated Content

Study cards (vocabulary picks, translations, learner notes) produced by kashi are kashi's content, provided to you under your license to use the App. You may use this content for personal study but may not redistribute or resell it.

8. Third-Party Services

kashi relies on the following third-party services. Their respective terms apply when kashi communicates with them on your behalf:

• Apple Music (your library access)
• Supabase (authentication and data storage, US East)
• lrclib.net (community-contributed lyric lookups for song matching)

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

kashi is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that every Japanese song in your library will be matched, that study card content will be free of errors, or that the App will be available without interruption.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, kashi and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.

11. Subscriptions

kashi offers optional paid subscriptions ("kashi Premium"). Full subscription disclosures, including pricing, renewal behavior, and cancellation, are at /kashi/subscription-terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to kashi if you violate these Terms. You may stop using kashi at any time by uninstalling the App.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms; the effective date above will be revised when we do. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law

kashi is operated by Memoirji LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of Wyoming, United States. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
